Victorian gold, black Enamel, Pearl & Diamond mourning brooch with keepsake, compartment Verso
Circa 1840
An antique, early Victorian mourning brooch designed with a single flower of seed pearls with a rose cut diamond centre (probably a forget me knot) mounted on a black enamel panel surrounded by a row of natural seed pearls again framed with a scalloped black enamel border (please see images) The face of the brooch is in very good condition with all of the original pearls intact and no evidence of damage to the enamel. On the reverse is a compartment with the original photograph held in place with a piece of rock crystal.
The T-pin is original, but the C-clasp has been replace at a later date with an over locking safety clasp.
Complete with safety chain.
This collectable Victorian brooch will be delivered in a new black leatherette and velvet box.
