Victorian 9ct, 9k, 375 gold bohemian Garnet brooch, lace pin, Circa 1890
This pretty antique, Garnet brooch is beautifully designed with a row of cabachon Garnets mounted in an oval frame, accented with a larger garnet on the inside (please see images).

Garnet is the traditional birthstone for January
The name “garnet” comes from the Latin word “Garanatus,” meaning “seedlike,” in reference to a pomegranate.
This reference makes sense as small garnets look like the bright red seeds you find inside in a pomegranate.
