Description
Victorian 15ct, 15k, 625 Rose Gold, Bohemian Garnet, Bee, fly, insect stick, tie, cravat pin in new box as displayed,
Circa 1880
Antique Victorian, stickpin featuring an insect mounted with Garnets, the wings are pave-set and the body, head and eyes are also defined with Garnets mounted in a collet setting.
Cleverly designed, this garnet bee is mounted on a 15carat rose gold barley twist pin.
The head of the pin measures 12 x 17mm
Makers mark on pin (KER), tested to at least 15ct (possibly higher).
The Garnet gemstones are a lovely deep red colour.
The name “garnet” comes from the Latin word “Garanatus,” meaning “seedlike,” in reference to a pomegranate.
This reference makes sense as small garnets look like the bright red seeds you find inside in a pomegranate.
Garnet is the traditional birthstone for January
Perfect for a Vintage wedding, the stick pin looks stunning on a tie or cravat and makes a great family heirloom to pass on through the generations.
