Description Exquisite, Victorian 15ct, 15k, 625 Gold Swallow & Pearl brooch. Circa 1895
A beautiful, antique lace pin / brooch featuring a bird (swallow or swift) in flight with a pearl attached to its beak. Exquisitively made in 15ct yellow gold, the bird has finely detailed feathers, eyes & beak.
Not hallmarked but fully tested as 15ct gold This pretty brooch may have been given to a loved one when departing for war (the swallow was the first bird seen near land and symbolised a safe journey home) the pearls resembling purity, chastity and delicacy. This beautiful piece of historic jewellery will be delivered in a new black leatherette and velvet box.
