Rare, Victorian 15ct, 15k, 625 Gold large Fly, Stick, tie, cravat, lapel pin, Circa 1890
Antique, Victorian, 15carat gold stickpin featuring a large 24.5 x 16.6mm fly mounted on a barley twist pin.
The fly is three dimensional, intricately detailed with facial features together with detailing on the wings and six gold legs – please see images. This fly resembles a blue bottle! and was most likely inspired by the Victorian’s fascination with the natural world and their collections of butterflies, insects etc., and the opening of the National History Museum.
