Victorian, 14ct, 14k, 585 Gold, Diamond & Sapphire crescent moon stick, tie, cravat pin in original antique box. Circa 1890
A superb Victorian stickpin designed as a Crescent moon, mounted with five Sapphires and four diamonds in a gold setting.
The gemstones are old cut stones with an estimated total carat weight of 0.24ct.
The crescent measures 10x10mm and the length of the pin is 65mm.
Stick pins were often worn at weddings, and no doubt this pin was worn by a groom on his wedding day, the crescent moon representing a new start (as he embarks on married life), the Diamonds for everlasting love and Sapphires for faithfulness.
