Magnificent, 18ct, 18k, 750 Gold Emerald & Pearl Mourning, hair brooch, 53.5 x 39mm, Circa 1830’s
This magnificent Regency brooch likely dates to the first quarter of the 19th century.
Taking centre stage is a delicate, daisy cluster of natural pearls surrounding a tiny Emerald, the brooch is made in a rich, buttery 18carat yellow gold, with scroll work and four abstract hearts, each mounted with an Emerald set in a crimped setting.
Complete with T-bar and C-clasp fitting.
There is a glazed compartment verso, with a finely plaited section of dark hair.
Hallmark: None – tested as 18ct gold with a base metal pin (often used for added strength when pinning to heavy garments)
