Gorgeous Georgian, Natural pearl cluster on mother of pearl backs with 9ct screw fittings
Circa 1830
An
exquisite antique pair of natural pearl cluster earrings, each one
designed with tiny basra pearls intricately sewn onto a mother of pearl
backing.
The earrings date from around the late Georgian period to the early Victorian era.
Each cluster measures 17.5 x 15.5mm
The earrings are fitted with a rose gold screw on fitting.
The natural wild pearls ranging in size from a tiny 1mm seed pearl to a 2.6mm pearl.
Tiny
natural pearls from India were used extensively in Georgian Jewellery,
they were hand sewn onto a drilled mother of pearl backing and designed
into delicate, exquisite pieces of jewellery. Many of the pearls used
were from the Pinctada radiata oyster found in the Persian Gulf, the Red
seas and Sri Lanka
A rare find, these antique earrings will be delivered in a new black leatherette and velvet box as displayed.
