Magnificent, high carat Gold, Emerald 1.10ct & Diamond 2.50ct Lucky horse shoe brooch, 35x 36mm, Circa 1890
A huge brooch, boasting around 3.60cts of gemstones!
This stunning piece of jewellery is designed as a horse shoe mounted with twelve diamonds and five Emeralds.
Dated around the late Victorian period, this horse shoe brooch features a central 4.6×5.3mm Emerald flanked by two Diamonds each measuring 4.5mm & 2 x 4.3mm, two Emeralds 4.4×3.7mm, two diamonds x 4mm & 3.7mm & 3.5mm, two emeralds x 3mm and lastly 2 diamonds x 2.5mm.
The gemstones are full of character, they are well matched, but do have inclusions and black carbon flecks, one has a tiny chip – please see images.
The carat weight of the Diamonds combined is approx 2.50ct and the Emeralds 1.10ct
Total gemstone weight: 3.60cts
A truly statement piece, this brooch is dripping with gemstones and would look stunning clipped onto a pashmina shawl or as a classic accessory on an LBD.
Hallmarked on pin (undecipherable – looks european), tested to at least 15ct gold.
