Antique, Georgian 15ct, 15k, 625 Gold Natural Pearl Pendant, brooch, pin & chain
Circa 1780
An exquisite antique, Georgian natural pearl pendant / brooch beautifully made with natural wild pearls ranging in size from a tiny 1mm seed pearl to a 4×3.3mm pearl, the pearls are hand sewn onto a mother of pearl backing. This beautiful pendant is skillfully hand made with a central cross design raised above a double pearl frame, tiered in multiple pearl frames and finished with a scalloped design frame, in a three dimensional design.
At the top of the pendant is a gold jump ring fitted on to a gold frame verso, this is cleverly hinged so that it can be hidden when worn as a brooch or moved into place and attached to a chain to be worn as a pendant.
Complete with 15ct gold fitting & pin & a modern 9ct gold belcher link 20″ chain.
Believed to be french, this exquisite pendant / brooch is beautifully presented in a new black leatherette and velvet box.
In good antique condition – there is minimal damage and some minor loss of tiny pearls.

Tiny natural pearls from India were used extensively in Georgian Jewellery, they were hand sewn onto a drilled mother of pearl backing and designed into delicate, exquisite pieces of jewellery. Many of the pearls used were from the Pinctada radiata oyster found in the Persian Gulf, the Red seas and Sri Lanka
