Description
Fine, Edwardian Gold Opal and Diamond bar brooch, Circa 1910
An exquisite Edwardian, gold bar brooch, featuring a central 5mm, Opal surrounded by twelve, twinkling rose-cut diamonds mounted in a cluster in the centre of a bar brooch.
The cluster is a high carat gold, it measures 10mm and we believe it was originally a ring, there is evidence of a solder join where it connects to the 9ct gold bar.
The Opal displays a myriad of colours with flashes of yellow, orange, purple, green & turquoise. It is very lively and fiery, but there is a tiny chip on the girdle (not really noticeable when worn).
Hallmarked: 9ct (denotes 9carat gold) and the cluster tests as 18ct
Complete with c clasp fitting.
Opal is the birthstone for October
Diamond is the birthstone for April
