Fine, Edwardian 9ct Gold synthetic Sapphire & rose-cut Diamond, Crescent moon, brooch in original fitted box, C1901
A fine, antique crescent, honeymoon brooch featuring a row of synthetic ‘royal blue’ Sapphires graduating in size with tiny genuine rose-cut diamonds nestled in between.
This striking brooch has vivid royal blue stones depicting the colour of a rich evening sky, with twelve rose-cut diamonds, twinkling like stars.
The romantic Victorians and Edwardians gave “honeymoon” brooches to their loved ones on the eve of their wedding, the crescent motif symbolises a new beginning, together as a married couple.
Hallmarked verso – the hallmarks were stamped prior to mounting the stones, so they are hard to read! the brooch has been tested as 9carat gold.
Complete with base metal pin (used for added strength) & c-clasp fitting
This romantic crescent brooch is beautifully presented in its fitted blue box with cream velvet interior (as displayed)
