Exquisite, Edwardian 9ct, 9k, 375 Gold Peridot & Pearl Lavalier necklace, Circa 1901
Beautifully made in 9carat gold during the Art Nouveau period.
This antique pendant features a round faceted 6mm Peridot mounted in a claw setting on a knife edged bar, above sits a trio of tiny seed pearls in a ‘fleur des lys’ design. Either side are two scrolls forming the top of the heart frame surround.
The top of the pendant is connected with two short pieces of chain to a central jump ring and then connected to a matching chain.
This exquisite pendant is completed with a natural baroque pearl drop, mounted in a gold wire cage, suspended “en tremblant” (in a trembling style).
Hallmarked 9ct on the reverse. This pendant comes with a matching, modern 9ct belcher link 16″ chain.
Peridot is the traditional birthstone for August.
Pearl is the traditional birthstone for June.
The name Lavalier (also spelt lavalier or lavalli�re) derived from the name of the Duchesse de La Valli�re (1644-1710), one of the mistresses of Louis XIV.
