Exquisite, Edwardian 9ct & 14ct Gold Citrine & Pearl, drop Necklace, Lavalier,
This pretty lariat necklace features an oblong shaped, faceted Citrine mounted in a collet setting on a knife edged bar, sitting just beneath the Citrine is a rice pearl drop. The pendant is attached to a gold ‘paper chain’ link chain decorated either side with two , 3.5mm cultured pearls – please see images.
Complete with bolt and jump ring clasp.
The Citrine gemstone is a lovely deep cognac colour.
Hallmarked 9k (denotes 9carat gold) on bolt ring (this is a later addition), the pendant tests as 14ct and the chain as 9ct
Citrine is the traditional birthstone for November
Pearl is the traditional birthstone for June
The name Lavalier (also spelt lavalier or lavallière) derived from the name of the Duchesse de La Vallière (1644-1710), one of the mistresses of Louis XIV, who favoured this style of necklace.
