Swallows were a popular motif used in Victorian times and was often given as a token of love, often from some-one who was travelling or going to war. The swallow is the first bird that is seen from a ship as it returns to land.
The swallow represents a loved one returning safely home!
Shamrock represents “perpetuity,” which essentially means “forever”
So the brooch would mean I will return to you and we will be together, forever!
