Exquisite, Edwardian Citrine & Natural pearl fringe necklace on 15ct, 15k, 625 rose gold barrel clasp, C1901
Beautifully made during the late Victorian, early Edwardian period.
This exquisite, antique necklace features a delicate row of natural saltwater pearls, individually drilled and hand strung onto an 15ct rose gold barrel clasp.
Suspended at 1cm intervals are a row of seventeen, graduated, faceted Citrine gemstones, connected with fine pieces of gold wire.
The largest Citrine gemstone measures 10.5 x 14mm and the smallest one is 8 x 7.5mm. The Citrines are a gorgeous golden yellow colour. They are vibrant and clean.
This stunning necklace would have graced the neck of a young edwardian lady as she waltzed across the dance floor, the Citrine “en tremblant” (moving in a trembling style) sparkling & shimmering in the light of the chandeliers.
The Citrine captures the light with its many facets & its glorious shades of golden yellow.
Not hallmarked – tested as 15carat gold
Tiny natural pearls from India were used extensively in antique Jewellery. Many of the pearls used were from the Pinctada radiata oyster found in the Persian Gulf, the Red seas and Sri Lanka
