Description
Antique, Art Nouveau 9ct, 9k, 375 Rose Gold Ruby & pearl, scroll Stick, tie, cravat, lapel pin Circa 1895
A Victorian stickpin mounted with a gold scroll, bound with a coil of gold (resembling ribbon) terminating with a seed pearl and a Ruby gemstone.
This romantic stickpin was most likely given to a groom for his wedding day, the gold scroll represents the marriage certificate and the gold ribbon is the binding of two people (the bride and groom) with the pearl symbolising purity and the Ruby passion.
The head of the pin is hallmarked on the back, but this is worn, it tests to at least 9ct gold – possible 15ct. The barley twist pin is base metal (often used on antique stick pins for added strength).
The head of the pin measures 12 x 10mm.
MEASUREMENTS: 15 x 61mm
