Romantic, Art Nouveau 14ct Gold Turquoise & Pearl ‘lovers knot’ and heart, twin brooch,
Exquisite, Antique, Turquoise and pearl double brooch featuring a pair of matching ‘Lovers knot’ gold and Turquoise brooches connected with a length of yellow gold and basra pearl chain with a Turquoise heart pendant drop.
This romantic brooch is full of annotations and was most likely worn by a bride on her wedding day, with the two lovers knots (from the term “to tie the knot’) connected together with a heart drop (representing the unity of love) the blue Turquoise (from the saying ‘something blue’). Turquoise was a favoured gemstone in the Victorian period and so was pearl (representing purity). Queen Victoria gave her bridesmaids Turquoise brooches.
Each brooch measures 33.5 x 9.2mm, the length of chain 11cm and the adorable heart 13 x 8.8mm
