Rare, Art Deco, French minaudiere, vanity case with 18ct gold, Jade, diamonds and black onyx, Circa 1935
A quality minaudiere, vanity box with an internal mirror, powder pouch (complete with powder puff) and lipstick or perfume holder.
The makers name is printed in gold on the edge (please see images).
The outer fabric of the case is made with lizard skin and embellished with a piece of jadeite, with a black onyx and rose-cut diamond frame.
There are a total of fourteen, twinkling rose-cut diamonds mounted in platinum.
The gemstone mounted decoration is in a geometric design – very art deco!!
Complete with 18ct gold clasp fastening.
Hallmarked: Eagles head (denotes 18ct gold)
A Minaudiere was ‘in vogue’ during this era, worn (held) as a jewellery piece / accessory that replaced the evening bag and was functional as well as decorative!
