Art Deco, 9ct, 9k, 375 Gold Pearl & Amethyst target Drop, dangle Earrings, Circa 1920
Antique, pair of Art Deco Pearl & Amethyst ‘Target’ Drop Earrings.
Each earring features a 4mm Amethyst attached to a gold bar with a decorative pearl and Amethyst circular drop, known as a target.
Target jewellery was very popular during the Edwardian and Art Deco period, the target depicts a circular frame with a circular inset and represents “the target of their desire – like cupids bow”. The Amethyst gemstone represents serenity, understanding, trust and grace and the pearls for purity.
These earrings were most likely gifted as a token of love.
Hallmarked: 9ct (denotes 9carat gold) on back of earrings and fittings.
The fittings are screw-on but could easily be converted to post & scroll fittings.
