Antique 9ct, 9k, 375 Gold Goddess Hera Portrait Cameo Brooch, Circa 1910
These lovely portrait Cameo is mounted in 9ct yellow gold and finished with a rope design edge. Complete with a base metal pin (often used for added strength) & overlocking clasp.
Depicting the Goddess Hera, Hera is the Queen of the Gods and is the wife and sister of Zeus in the Olympian pantheon. She is known for being the Goddess of Marriage & Birth and each year she returned to virginity by bathing in a well, known as Canathus.
As queen of the Gods she wears a cylindrical crown known as a polos or Poloi – a crown for mythological figures.
Her wagon was pulled by Peacocks.
The brooch has a tiny loop at the top and could easily have a bail fitted so that it can be worn as a brooch and pendant (please contact us for more details)
